Welcome to the Château of Sainte-Suzanne

Famous for its successful resistance against William the Conqueror, the chateau of Sainte-Suzanne is divide today between a middle ages fortress and a 17th century dweling.

Possibity to have audioguide for 2 € at reception of the 17th dweling.  [our leaflet in English]

In the dwelling, there is a CIAP : a center for heritage of Mayenne County. The two first floors present its history and nature around. The upper one is for temporary exhibition and special events.


Fortress and its bailey are free.

Each first Sunday of month the chateau is FREE


Opening Times
The chateau is open every day except from 15th December to 1st February.
From 5th to 31st of January, fortress and its bailey are opened during the week and closed the week-end.

We endeavour to ensure that all visitors have an enjoyable experience. Most of the fortress and its grounds are accessible. Since its restoration in 2008, visitors with disabilities have full access to the dwelling floors.


Special Events*
Le château participates at national cultural events as « les journées du patrimoine » or « la fête de la science ». There are guided tours, workshops, classical concerts, pic-nics with entertainments, talks...
